Where we love is home- home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts. -Oliver Wendell Holmes

gosh y'all life has been SO insane.
and I love LU, like love it.
but every month or so, my heart longs for time at home.
or just to get off campus for a few days.

this weekend away has been in the works for months.
and the way all the details fell into place so perfectly
made it the cherry on top of my month thus far.

Saturday morning I drove through the snow and all
rushing to meet my sweet Gracie Lou for breakfast.
it was so worth every moment in the car and an
early early wake up to see her sweet face,
hear her laugh and to listen to her
tell me about her life these days.
these are the sweet times I cherish the most.

after a sweet time with her I drove the other hour of my trip
to meet the birthday boy and some family for his birthday lunch.

goodness I can't believe he's 11!

he just loved being the center of attention,
and we loved spoiling him with cupcakes
and a yummy lunch!

but the fun didn't stop there!

we headed over to the nearest Target to do some birthday
shopping.. he was quite the shopper!
and such a ham!

after running home to drop off my car and freshen up
the 4 of us headed to a small town about an hour away
to meet cousins for a night of fun watching my friend
Tyrell play against LU in basketball.

Tyrell and I went to high school together, and I'm always
up for watching him play. so we planned this months ago.
and my family was happy to join in on the fun!

Stephen just loved getting to live the college scene
for a few hours, and he loved cheering nice and
loud for Ty! it was beyond precious!

we loved getting to watch him play, and it
was so nice to chat and catch up afterwards.

we ended the night with ice cream with cousins-
one last hoo-rah for Stephen's birthday.

we had such a wonderful time, and I loved
the non-stop action from the time I rolled
into town, to the moment I hit the pillow.

Yesterday was a tad more relaxed
I was able to go to my home church
and see everyone, we did lunch with my grandma,
took afternoon naps and then met
a different set of cousins for dinner.

it was so nice and more relaxed, but still so fun!

this morning mom and I spent the morning downtown
for my MRI, and then got to do lunch at a local favorite.
I treated myself to a pedicure and a LONG nap.

it has been the greatest blessing being home
and being able to refresh and just draw away
from school for a few days.

I'm not sure I can talk myself into driving back to LU tomorrow. ;)

so so thankful for weekends at home
and for spring break in TEN days!

Enjoy your last week of February, friends!!

Until next time,
Austyn
