.. but the Lord orders his steps.

3 years ago, when I first talked to this precious friend it was evident
from the first message, that she was not called to live the American dream
her calling was to a place far more extravagant, a place with red dirt floors, huts, starving children
and a growing need for the gospel.
in 3 years, she has become my best friend.
we have lived far away, yet still managed to maintain
this beautiful friendship.

Her heart for the Lord is so beautiful. it encourages me.
daily she teaches me so many things.

we've had quite the experiences together.

But today, she opens a new chapter of the book of life
 
today this precious friend is moving across the world,
leaving comfort, family, friends, and worldly possessions
to serve the least of these.
God's precious people.

In just a few hours, she will call Uganda home.
Oh how my heart might burst.
this is her heart, her love, her passion
and the Lord is so beautiful as to graciously
grant her the privilege to live her dream.

I cannot wait to see how the Lord uses her to impact the people of Uganda.
how even he will stretch and mold her.

Join me in praying for her.
for those back home
and those in her soon to be home.

I will surely miss our crazy chats, and knowing when
I needed someone, she was only a text away.

but knowing she is where the Lord has placed her for this season
is such an encouragement. and I have no doubt, this is where she should be.

Y'all. its been a while. Holy cow. I was talking with a friend this morning about life and this waiting game of a season that the Lord has me in right now. Waiting for graduation, waiting to know what the rest of my life is going to look like, waiting on contract updates and internship approvals, waiting on interviews, Creation studies to END (forever and ever amen), leases to run out, May to arrive and my next chapter to begin. We are Family.

All my brothers, sister and me.   A week after leaving my sweet family, they came to visit. Guess they missed me ;)   Their 24 hours here flew by but it was such a refresher and so nice after my first week back. And it makes the month before I see them again, not seem so crazy long.   My siblings and dad had never been to the campus, so we enjoyed touring around and even getting some fun filled hours at the Snowflex. The boys LOVED it. And I just loved them being here to do it with me for once. :)   It was the perfect family weekend.   Now back to those books..   Have a great week y'all! -Austyn

Plans for prosperity and hope..

This morning as Stephen and I listened to Bruno Mars' song "Marry you" and talked sweet talks of pure preciousness he drew my future family. As he drew me, blue as i'll ever be. and my sweet husband. and the bunk beds, treehouses and basements. the staircase leading to the sky and my huge house that really isnt needed.   he also drew two black kids. My Ethiopian babies! Oh how i dream of adopting from Ethiopia. And how precious that he drew them not even knowing i did want to adopt. Seriously, how precious are those little Ethiopian prince/ princess (s). Only two because "i dont want you to work too hard" Be still my heart.   -Austyn :)
