"A broken heart, you will not despise.."
College is such a learning experience.
I think truly, even at a Christian college my faith has been tested and tried
more than ever.
Weird, you think. I know.
But I came into college with this envision that my spiritual life would be on such a high.
hours and hours a day of quiet time, and bible reading. and praying for hours on end.
And when it didnt happen that way, I started to just plummet.
This week was a really good week for me.
I heard a really good message the other day, exactly what I needed to hear.
And after a few days of chewing on it, this morning my devotion was on humbling yourself.
Humility is the first step to having a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Without realizing you are nothing apart from him, you cant get anywhere.
So when I read 2 Chronicles 7:14
"My people who are called by MY name, humble themselves and pray and seek MY face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive them of their sin, and I will heal their land"
Wow. When we humble ourselves before a mighty God
only then will he forgive us and heal us.
And because while I was getting excited about that, I just could not stop there. SO I flipped and landed on Psalms 52.
Obviously too long to write out, but go read it. Its a daily prayer I will repeat for myself.
"Create in me a clean heart.."
and my favorite part
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God,
you will NOT despise"
I just wanna be broken.
One of my favorite songs says
"Tell your friends this is where the party ends, until you're broken for your sins, you can't be social
Seek the Lord, and wait for what he has in store, and know that great is your reward so just be hopeful"
I think that should be everyone's goal.
To be broken, and truly seek the Lord for our great reward.
So today, in my brokenness.
Im just singing over and over
and praying to have a clean heart
and be broken.
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!
My roomates are out of town, its quiet around here.
Perfect for hourly worship.
Ahhh
