Home away from Home.
Almost two weeks ago Dad moved out of town for a few months for his new job. It was destined we would go visit him often but we had to be without him an entire week before we got the chance. I know I live in a military town and people go a year without their dad but when you see him every day it’s hard. and I don’t know what deployment feels like. So bare with me..
We had such a wonderful time. Seeing our daddy, his cute little house and furniture, laughing, going stir crazy, seeing friends and everything else we did. It was the simple things like..
Just lounging around talking to each other.
giggling at his cute little grandma cabinets from the 80’s.
eating the cinnamon cupcakes that the cleaning lady left or washing the dishes with your mom’s soap.
seeing his 5 canned goods as opposed to your 50 at home.
taking self portraits to waste time because what else is there to do.
I walked outside barefooted on Saturday morning {btw, BAD idea!} and just observed the surroundings.
The wet and ran over Sunday paper that he’s never home to read.
Watching my brothers look out the windows and watch the birds and crazy neighbor dogs.
The simplest things like the wall décor or the gorgeous flowers just make such beautiful eye catchers.
watching the one of 6 channels or watching out the window at the peaceful sight of the quiet neighbors drive down the street.
your goofy brother giving you performances on the “stage” or being able to drive in the big city for the first time. Even if only to get coffee down the road.
hearing the giggles every time we jumped over the "road hump”
surprising friends at their basketball game and making their faces light up with joy.
watching all the kids interact and have such a fun time together.
getting my fix of my sweet boy Zach trying to feed me his lunch. Sweeter than sugar.
Sitting at the table and retelling all of our fun beach adventures this past summer. and hearing the giggles as we remember our crazy happenings.
taking your sister in the car with you and realizing you can drive to Grandma’s to “pop in” and it won’t take the entire day in travel time.
and it makes her entire day!
We had such a fun weekend. Spending time with our daddy, grandparents, friends, cousins. I can’t even explain how much I love feeling like it’s home. and It’s so much fun to be on pins and needles waiting to go back and enjoy some more.
Until next time..
